Conductor & Artistic Director
Victoria Gau
Maestra Gau is well-known in the Washington DC area for her work as Associate Conductor at National Philharmonic. She has additionally served as Artistic Director and Music Director/Conductor of the Other Opera Company in Bethesda, Maryland, which she co-founded in 1992. and music director for such Washington area companies as The Washington Savoyards, Victorian Lyric Opera Company, Annapolis Opera Musicales, the Eldbrook Opera Ensemble, and the IN-Series. Guest conducting includes the Open Page Ensemble, Alexandria (VA) and Akron (OH) Symphonies, Friday Morning Music Club Orchestra, and the Kennedy Center Messiah Sing-Along. She has been active as Artistic Director of the Takoma Ensemble and is the former Conductor and Music Director of the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra in Richmond, VA.

Valery Breshears
Valery Breshears, 16, began violin studies at the age of two and was accepted into the San Francisco Conservatory of Music at five, where she studied for ten years with William Barbini and Zhao Wei. She is currently a full-scholarship Thibaudet Scholar at the Colburn Academy, studying with Margaret Batjer, and serves as both Concertmaster and Principal Second of the Colburn Virtuosi Ensemble. Valery has appeared as soloist with the Fremont Symphony Orchestra, Nova Vista Symphony, Palo Alto Symphony, and California Youth Symphony. She is the First Prize winner of the Johansen International String Competition, and a prize winner of the Chicago International Violin Competition and the Pacific Musical Foundation and Society Competition. In 2021, she was awarded the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. As a member of the Breshears String Quartet, Valery won First Prize at the 2023 Piero Farulli International Competition and earned the Silver Medal at the 2024 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Valery performs on a violin by Antoine Nedelec & Jeff Phillips and the Baron von der Leyen, Ex-Klaveness Stradivari (1705).
