AUDITIONS

Auditions for our 2019-20 season will be held August 21 and 22, 2019 between 6:30pm-10pm at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.

We are looking to fill the following instrumental positions:

-French Horn

-Auxiliary low winds (bass clarinet, contrabassoon)

-Bass Trombone

-Percussion

-Strings

-Please note, we do not have any flute openings at this time and will not be holding flute auditions.

-We will hold auditions for substitutes for all instruments other than flute.

AUDITION INQUIRY FORM

PREPARE FOR YOUR AUDITION

Please prepare 2 contrasting selections:

  • Lyrical piece that demonstrates good musical style

  • A piece that showcases your technical ability

Each of the two selections should be at least five minutes long and should be a complete movement of a concerto, sonata or etude from which the audition proctors may choose a selection. Please bring with you copies of all music that you plan to play at the audition.

  • You will also be asked to sightread a piece of orchestral literature.

  • Please be prepared to play a selection for any auxiliary instrument that you can play.

  • Auditions last between 7 and 10 minutes.

REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES

  • Rehearsals and performances are usually held at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.

  • Rehearsals are usually on Thursday evenings, from 7:30-10:00pm.

  • Most performances take place on Sundays.

  • Dress rehearsals are usually the Saturday of the concert weekend, from 10am-1pm.
