This concert takes the idea of the dance through some twists, from Liszt's “Dance of Death” to the dead dancing on Bald Mountain, and concluding with Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, which Wagner referred to as “the apotheosis of the dance” because of its lively rhythms.
Every other year, the Capital City Symphony features the winner of the Ylda Novik Memorial Piano Competition. This year's winner, 15-year-old pianist Sarah Barham will be the guest artist for this concert.
- Liszt, Totentanz, with pianist Sarah Barham
- Mussorgsky/Rimsky-Korsakov, Night on Bald Mountain
- Beethoven, Symphony No. 7
