As a community orchestra we are committed to nurturing a love of music in people of all ages. Children are welcome at all of our concerts, and we offer FREE tickets for those aged 16 or younger at our main season shows. We offer student tickets for $15 for those enrolled in high school or college, please bring along your valid student ID when collecting your tickets.
Our family concert takes place in November, join us for energetic, interactive music and an instrument petting zoo. This show is suited to children of all ages and has a very relaxed, fun atmosphere.
Holiday Concert and Sing Along
Each year we partner with Atlas Performing Arts Center and the talented singers of the Congressional Chorus for our Holiday Concert and Sing Along. Join in as we perform Christmas favorites, and if you're very very good Mr. Claus just might stop by for a visit. Tickets to this special event cost $10 each including booking fees. Our afternoon performance is a little shorter to accommodate little people with short attention spans. Our evening performance is a little longer so the bigger kids can enjoy more music.
Our Family Concert and Holiday Concert and Sing-Along are ideal for children of all ages. Kids are welcome at our other concerts too. These events are suited to young music lovers who are comfortable with full-length shows with a slightly more serious atmosphere than our wild and crazy family events. Our conductor, Victoria Gau, usually gives an engaging and informative introduction to the music.
Testimonial from a Happy Dad
This spring our whole family attended the Capital City's Sibelius' 150th Anniversary Celebration. I wanted to reach out to thank you for bringing such outstanding musicians to our neighborhood.
We live just a few blocks south of the Atlas Performing Arts Center and have attended several concerts there previously. Each time we do, we are always so grateful to have such an amazing venue so close to home. Nobody in my family is a musician, but going to Capital City performances is easy because we never feel intimidated the way we might at a more formal venue. From the dress code to the size of the hall to the demeanor of the conductor - it all feels very comfortable.
One of our goals as parents is sharing a love of great music with our three daughters - ages 12, 10 and 8 - so that as they grow up they will appreciate classical music. It's much easier to do that since we discovered the Atlas because it's so affordable and because the audience resembles our own street - a cross section of race, background and age. Best of all the music was excellent, and the guest soloist Petteri Iivonen took our breath away. Thanks for bringing someone so talented to perform for us.
My family and I are already looking ahead to next season.
